Hello, 2026?

It’s been a while, so, finally, here’s a quick update…

I’ve had to navigate some difficult life experiences in these past months, including the shocking loss of both my beloved baby sister Kitty and my long-term spirit animal Keeda Cat. Those traumas, combined with a very hard winter, the insane, rocketing expenses associated with doing my chosen handcraft, and the appalling, daily sensory overload via a horrific “news” cycle, have pushed me far, far, up and away into my personal safe headspace of thought. Frankly, it’s been difficult to come out and be present to do all the things needing to be done, let alone to heal myself and/or play. I’ve truly been walking around in my own detached world, almost like I am looking at my self from “back up there, in the air somewhere.” If you too are an introvert, you’ll know where I’m coming from…

Ceramics have become a maker’s haven for me. There’s something so pure about centering clay on the wheel, while quietly centering myself within that process. That spinning clay has helped me cope with the grief and pain of loss, and the act of pulling up clay forms only to push them down again to meet the wheel in endless repetition has grounded me. It’s as if touching earth has helped me find a way to return from the air.

But now, here I am in late winter with much to do, and I find myself facing a Spring and Summer full of workshops to focus my sights upon. I am gradually journeying out of the Clay/time continuum and stepping into the studio once again to old friend bench and abandoned workroom, and feeling the embrace of a long-lost friend. If you love something, you can always return to it. It’s really there, just waiting for you to come back.

If you are interested, I’ll be teaching in July 8-15 at a new event for me: the Art & Soul Mixed Media Retreats in Harrisburg, Pa. and also at BeadFest – which is finally (Yay!) returning to Valley Forge, Pa. from August 5-8. Details and my workshop signup information can be found on my Upcoming Workshops page.

Peace and Love to you.
